Movie Review: BARAKA

Baraka is a visual documentary by Ron Frike. It's the first film to the trilogy Qatsi and was made in 1992.

The name of this film, "Baraka" means breath of life and that's just the sensation that I feel when I watch these film. This documentary show us, our different cultures and how humans are related to nature. It's difficult make an abstract about this film, because there are just images connecting with a background music.

This film don't have special effects or superstar actors, but it's a very good documentary, because it shows with non-words the human activity and give you a message about a social critic.

Baraka makes a simile and also a divergence with the civilized world, represented by Tokyo, and the uncivilized cultures, like cultures in the Tibet. We can see a stronger and violet contrast in the form of life who has these cultures, like our planet was completely divide in two poles.

The soundtrack of Baraka is wonderful. I think that it gives the emotion in the precise moments. It's like the images and the music are only one thing that complete the sense of this documentary.

Finally, Baraka is an invitation to know magical  places that we never knows and they exist in our planet. It's an invitation to know more about another cultures and another spiritualism. And of course, Baraka is a visual reflection about what we, like humans, are doing with our planet know

So, I invite you to see this documentary, because when I watch it, I love it and ever when I watch it again, it surprised me with the images, the music, the colors, the form and I discover something new.

Technology

My favourite piece of technology is my laptop.

In my opinion laptop is the most useful piece of technology i know, because (if it has internet) , you can supply a lot things, like mobilephone, television, books, etc.

I'm not very fanatic about technology, but I have to recognize that technology is very important this days in my university life. Specially laptop, help me to study, and make my life a little bit easier. I can read by the computer, and search relevant information about my university works.  Also, I comunicate with my classmates by internet, because it's more cheap and easier than another system. My teachers, use the e-mail to send our marks and material about the class, so I have to say that if I don't have my laptop, my life should be difficult.

However, I have to say, that I use my laptop for the university but also only for spend time, and chatting with my boyfriend, because when we use the mobilephone, my parents makes angry when the count comes at home, it was very expensive. For these reason, we decided to get ride of the callings and we use the internet to talking now.

Another use that I give to my laptop is using it like a cinema. I love watching movies, so I download for free, a lot of movies that I see when I have a time.

Finally, I have to say, that I enjoy and work with my laptop, and that is why it is my favourite piece of technology. although, I think that I can live without my laptop, I prefer having one to help me to enjoy and work.

Pet maltreatment

Pet maltreatment is a topic that takes more relevance in the last years and in my opinion should be consider like a social problem. In spite of having a law, people don't obey this and pet maltreatment of more common and frequently that we know.

Everyday we can see on internet photographs and  news who tell us about this problem, and show us abandoned and wounded pets. There's no one form of pet maltreatment. The fist one is when a person hits, cuts or burns his pet. Another form of maltreatment is when you use the pet for win money. For example , when animals have to makes a show or another case is when they use animals, especially dogs, to fight with another animal.

Luckily in the last years, people are more aware about this problem and a lot of people denounce this crime on the internet or in the Protective society of animals. In the last time, we can see that appear a lot of new organization that interest about pet maltreatment. The members of this organizations are chiefly young people. However, I think we have to still improve in this aspect

Finally, I may be wrong but I think, we have pets to give they love and protection, because they become part of our family. I hope, this problem could be finish in a couple of year, but like other problems it's very difficult   get over if we don't do anything now!

The person that I admire on my fields is called Pierre Bordieu. He was a French sociologist, anthropologist and philosopher who was born on August first, in 1930.

Bordieu is one of the most famous sociologist in our times, because he reformulated the modern sociology. He decided to devote to sociology when he was in Argelia doing the military service. When he came back, published a lot of books about the society in Argelia.

His contribution on my field, social science, whit another perspective. He created an action theory, and he gave a lot of importance to cultural diversity and symbolical concept.

The strongest critique that people make to Bourdieu was that he had a vision deterministic of the reality.

I admired Bordieu because when I readed him, I believed what he said. I readed about him " The distinction" and "The sociologist trade", both are very interesting book and the and I think that he is one of the most intelligent person that I have to read. I would like, when I was older than now, understand the society like him, and who knows I could reformulate again the sociology.

Today I'm going to talk about one of  my favorite band. Its name is "La Nelson Domiguez"and it's from Chile. This is a new band that borned only one year ago. La Nelson Dominguez is composes about five incredibles musicians. Each one of them help to write the music. La Nelson Dominguez is a Jazz manoush band that everyday play music in Brazil squared. It call La Nelson Dominguez, because in Brazil squared live a vagabond, who recites poems and dances a lot when the band practice. Its's not a popular band, but it is very good, the best chilena band I think.

I like this band, because I like this type of music, but also because La nelson Domiguez is the band about my cousin and I think he is the best guitarrist in the wolrd. I don't know if it's totally true but I love him and I 'm his fan number one.

My autobiography

My full name is Sofía Amaranta Valentina Monsalves Ibarra. I'm 20 years-old and my birthday is on April third. I live in Santiago with my parents, because I'm only child. However, my cousins come every weeks to my home. They are like my brothers and sisters.
I studied in two schools. My primary was in Santa Ursula school, it was a german school. Then, at the secundary, I studied in San Felipe school. On 2012 I registrated at Universidad de Chile to study sociology. I'm to second year of sociology now and I enjoy it.
Througout my life, I'm trying to do many differents things, and I take many differents courses. When I was a Child I practice ballet and contemporary dance.. Then I took inglish class in Norteamericano. I love music, so I took piano's and  guitar's classes few years ago. I also took a very good painting course.
However, my passion is practice artistic gymnastic and circus arts, like trapeeze, tela and hand to hand. I would like oneday present a curcus show in a big stage.
